Description

The MEND Program Assistants primary responsibilities include assisting the MEND mind and nutrition leader(s) to successfully deliver the MEND 7-13 theory sessions, healthy growth checks and exercise sessions.

The MEND Program Assistant will report directly to the MEND Theory Leader and/or the MEND Regional Program Manager.

Main Responsibilities
In this position you will be responsible for a wide range of duties including, but not limited to the following:
    Required to commit to approximately 43 hours per MEND ten-week program, which includes:
    Required to attend all 20 MEND sessions.
    Assisting the MEND Theory and Exercise Leader in all aspects of delivery of the MEND Program.
    Assist in the accurate collection and recording of childrens data at two Healthy Growth Checks sessions (measurements of height; weight; waist circumference).

    Required to attend 2 days of training. (August 23&24)

    Work includes evening and weekends. Fall 2014 Program Dates:
Program Begins the week of September 30th

experience:
    Having a background in one of the following areas is preferred: physical activity, nutrition, early childhood education, behavioural health psychology, or health promotion.
    Working with groups and engaging children and their families
        Prior involvement in exercise or exercise sessions is considered an asset

Education and Qualifications:
    Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal records check (including vulnerable sector) prior to start of employment.
    Must attend a 2 day MEND Theory Training and pass the post training assessment
