COST ACCOUNTANT

Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Inc. is seeking a detail oriented, dynamic individual to fill our Accountant role within the Finance department.  

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
-Work closely with Technical and Production departments to review the existing grade cost system and provide recommendation for improvement
-Maintain item master setup and item maintenance
-Perform detailed review of fixed and variable costs; and provide value added variance analysis
-Value inventory and assist in cycle counts and year-end physical counts
-Maintain Fiber inventory and costing
-Assist in month-end and year-end closing and report preparation; investigate large variances
-Work closely with Requisitioners, Purchasing, -Receiving, Stores and other departments
-Monitor and identify problems in inventory system
-Annual standard cost roll up

Qualifications:
- A professional Accounting Designation or enrolled in a minimum of 4th level of CPA, CMA or CGA program is preferred
- Minimum four (4) years experience in cost accounting
-Detail oriented with good analytical skills
-In depth understanding of BOM (Bill of Material) and cost structure
-Advanced computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel
-Experience with fully integrated accounting system, preferably SAP
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to meet deadlines
