Description

The FASD Support Network of Saskatchewan is a
community based organization. We offer
information, training, advocacy and support to
families living with FASD. We are currently
looking for a full time Family Support Worker.

The Family Support Worker will provide community
based and occasional in home support and guidance
to families living with FASD. The Family Support
Worker will focus on guiding families to live
safe, healthy, stable and happy lives by
increasing understanding of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum
Disorder, implementing effective strategies,
building self care skills and family support
through access to community services, resources
and programs. Under supervision, Family Support
Workers will work independently and as part of a
team. They will be guided by a clear philosophy of
support and will be expected to:

Travel within Saskatoon and area.
Use strong analytic and problem solving skills.
Exercise sound judgment.
Develop relationships with others and engage in
healthy conflict resolution.
Maintain effective written and verbal
communication with team members, clients and
community contacts.
Support families in identifying strengths and
struggles and planning for improved outcomes.
Effectively make referrals and access a range of
systems and community resources.
Exhibit well developed leadership, facilitation
and presentation skills.
Model and teach advocacy and self care skills.
Be willing to acquire expertise regarding Fetal
Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
Possess a valid drivers license and reliable
vehicle.
Possess cultural awareness and awareness of
disability issues.
Be able to provide a clean Criminal Record Check
and Vulnerable Persons check.

 - Interview clients to assess their situation and determine the types of services required and eligibility
 - Develop prevention and intervention programs to meet community needs
 - Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops or symposia
