Description

The StarPhoenix, a division of Postmedia Network Inc, is looking for a strong communicator and relationship builder to join our team as a Human Resources Consultant for a minimum six month term.  

The Human Resources Consultant will work in close collaboration with the management team.  The primary focus of the position is to focus on employee relations and providing generalist support.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
    Providing internal HR consulting services on a variety of managerial, employee and organizational issues;
    Accurately preparing new hire paperwork and other employment related documents;
    Responding to inquiries regarding policies, benefits, employment opportunities, shift coverage, etc;
    Creating job postings, sourcing candidates, screening applicants, interviewing and reference checking;
    Implementing HR initiatives designed to attract, retain and develop and engage a diverse employee group;
    Administering payroll, benefits and pension policies and programs;
    Facilitating and coaching managers and supervisors on completing and delivering performance reviews, disciplinary actions and team member conflict resolution.  

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
    Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships;
    Excellent communication skills with proven ability to negotiate and influence;
    University Diploma with a focus in Human Resources or a related discipline;
    Minimum of 2 years work experience in a Human Resources position.
