Job Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, with direct accountability to the Controller, the Finance Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the financial and statistical systems of the Prairie North Regional Health Authority (PNRHA). This includes maintenance of the general ledger and various modules integrated with the general ledger such as accounts payable, materials management, accounts receivable, etc., as well as numerous sub-ledgers maintained on a variety of systems.
The incumbent provides financial reporting/consulting/analysis and strategic information on a variety of matters to management and program/service personnel to assist in financial decision making and planning. The incumbent also performs regular reconciliations of general ledger accounts and prepares working papers sufficient for internal and external audit purposes as required. Activities in this area include: accounting functions, coordinating the Finance Services unit, liaising with other members of Management, reporting, budgeting, internal controls, banking and treasury functions, policies and procedures and committee requirements.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years financial management experience preferred.
Previous Health Care experience would be an asset.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree coupled with a professional accounting designation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of accounting, spreadsheet and word processing programs
Extensive knowledge of database systems and spreadsheet applications
Familiarity with MIS Guidelines and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
