The Moose Jaw South Central Crime Reduction Committee requires a half-time contract Primary Crime Prevention Coordinator.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Moose Jaw South Central Crime Reduction Committee, the Coordinator will be responsible for program development (modeled on an existing program currently offered in Regina), program delivery and evaluation of a Primary Crime Prevention program targeted at elementary school aged children, grades 4 to 8.  The program is a holistic educational program aimed at reducing the likelihood of elementary school children becoming involved in criminal activity.  Children who participate in gateway crimes such as shoplifting and vandalism are more likely to develop serious criminal behaviors as they mature.  The program provides information about the impact of these behaviors on the student and their community.

Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Social Work or Human Justice degree, or a combination of relevant education and community experience. The successful applicant should have basic knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, criminal justice system and primary crime prevention issues.  Some travel is required.
