The role of Early Childhood Educator is to provide programming for children with diverse needs and implement the philosophy and goals of Hopes Home. They create an environment that promotes learning, individuality, growth and development while upholding the highest standards for daycare practice.
Major Responsibilities & Key Activities:
Work cooperatively with the Hopes Home team to develop and implement programming for children with diverse needs in a multi-aged home environment.
Plan and provide daily experiences/programming that support and promote each childs physical, emotional, social, communicative, cognitive and creative skills.
Develop and maintain an overall environment that support and encourages the development of all children.
Protect and promote the psychological and physical safety, health and well-being of each child being cared for.
Develop and maintain a warm, caring, and responsive relationship with every child.
Adhere to all policies and procedures of Hopes Home.
Facilitate behavioral/physical rehabilitation and programming (includes documentation and data collection)
Attend to personal care duties as required (i.e. dressing/undressing, bathroom needs, personal hygiene matters, feeding, etc.)
Attend to the physiotherapeutic needs of the child (i.e. walker, standing frame, etc.)
Assist and supervise children during events and activities while promoting appropriate and positive behavior
Be conscientious of, and provide for nutritional standards and regulations as set by the Canadian Food Guide and Provincial Health Department
Housekeeping duties such as laundry, sweeping/mopping, dusting, sanitizing, etc.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
Completion of Early Childhood Education diploma.
Related training in the area of children with special needs.
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a variety of behavioral and physical disorders, as well as children with diverse needs.
