Description

This position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer & is responsible for all operations of the Community Services Department, including supervision of all town recreational & cultural facilities, ensuring Kindersley's recreation & cultural facilities & parks provide a safe, clean & inspiring environment that benefits residents engaged in cultural, recreational & community activities.

Responsibilities:

Supervision of overall programming of cultural, sport & recreation in the community, including the operations of the West Central Events Centre, Kindersley Aquatic Centre, Elks Hall, & Norman Ritchie Community Centre, all outdoor sports grounds, playgrounds & walking trails.
Support & community facilitation for volunteer organizations based out of Town facilities
Setting the direction & principles that guide all community park & open space planning.
Development of policy for Council recommendation.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have experience in a municipal setting & possess a certificate, diploma or degree in Recreation, Culture or related field. Experience in managing & supervising staff is an asset.
The ability to work with staff, senior administration, contractors, consultants, elected officials, user groups & local volunteers
The ability to develop & implement various policies & procedures
The skill to recruit, train, manage & motivate employees & volunteers to achieve optimum productivity
Knowledge of the fundamentals of finance, management, employee appraisals & evaluations, marketing & legal processes
Knowledge of applicable regulations, equipment & software
Ability to set realistic goals & develop plans to achieve them in a team environment
Ability to take initiative & apply ingenuity & practical knowledge to interpret & resolve new, unusual, or troublesome situations
Ability to develop & maintain recreation & culture programs
Knowledge of facility scheduling & maintenance, & knowledge of user group expectations
