Additional Text:
Maidstone is a Primary Health care facility incorporating a collaborative emergency centre (CEC) model of health care delivery. Acute and long term care services are supported by a team of professionals including doctors and Nurse Practitioners, for twelve hours a day, seven days a week. At night, the team includes a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse and a paramedic (with physician oversight through the emergency medical services system), offering care and coordination of emergency services.

Teams working in CECs will be expected to have the competency to provide basic emergency stabilization services. Patients requiring more advanced services will be transferred to the nearest facility that provides the level of care required. The responsibility for client management in a CEC is a shared responsibility between the RN, paramedic and the on-line physician. As a member of a collaborative team  the RN along with a paramedic and on-line medical consultant (OLMC) physician  will have a basic understanding and respect for each others role and confidence that all team members will be consulted and collaborate based on their expertise.
