Classification: Term Position
Job Summary:
Teacher Assistant is a support position under the daily supervision of the assigned Teacher, with overall accountability to the Principal. This position assists in the preparation, instruction, evaluation, supervision, and administration of the classroom.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Grade 12 Diploma and/or experience working with children for all ages.
- Should have at least two (2) years of practical experience;
- Successful completion of an Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education (Level 1, 2 or 3).
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must possess a valid class 5 Saskatchewan driver?s license;
- Must submit a CPR (Vulnerable Sector) check.
- CPR and First Aid Certified.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to provide activities for children that encourage healthy growth;
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children;
- Ability to assist children individually to learn social skills;
- Ability to assist and encourage children to address intellectual, physical and behavioural difficulties that affect/hinder their ability to focus on school;
- Ability to work independently and work as part of a team;
- Excellent communication skills, patience, enthusiasm and flexibility.
- Strong critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills.
- Must be punctual, dependable, reliable, and ensure that confidential matters remain confidential;
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures;
- Continually engages in ongoing learning and development.
- Promotes the philosophy, goals and objectives of Cowessess Community Educational Center.
