Description

The George Gordon First Nation (GGFN) is seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Public Works Manager.  We require a positive, team-oriented manager to  administer a detailed Public Works program in the following areas;  Community buildings, Grounds upkeep, Fire protection, Roads, Solid waste removal and management, Land fill and garbage dump management, Water treatment plant, Waste disposal and management and corresponding public works budget and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and administer the Public Works program, budget and public works policy
Manages the Public Works budget and works with the Chief Financial Officer to create and monitor the Public Works budget, and presents budget variance reports to the oversight committee.
Developing efficiencies for the management of materials and labour, plans, blue prints and specifications, tendering and contract management, change order management, scheduling, maximization of the use of Public Works maintenance personnel, fire safety and related equipment, purchase and storage of tools, equipment and building supplies.
Responsible for the assignment of duties, assessments, to conduct performance evaluations, discipline, complaints and compliance concerning Public Works personnel
Responsible for occupational health and safety of the Public Works staff
Perform other related duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in business or certification from a recognized educational institutional in business administration, management, community planning, public works or construction
Minimum three years managerial experience required
Administrative and public works or construction industry experience
Effective working skills MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,  e-mail required
Excellent management writing and verbal communication skills
Experience working in a First Nation community
Drivers licence required

Preference given to George Gordon First Nation members.
