Purpose:
To support the YMCAs values, mission and vision while providing excellent care and programming to children ages 0-5 in a safe, clean and comfortable environment, as well as, communicating to parents and children and making them feel welcome and accepted at the Early Years Family Resource Centers
Responsibilities:
-To serve each parent and child with prompt, courteous and friendly service when they visit the YMCA.
-To consistently respond to parents concerns in a positive and supportive manner.
-To observe and monitor childrens play activities.
-To be responsible for the safety and security of children:
- Document children attending childcare including, name, time of drop off/time of pick up
- Monitor all entrances and exits at all times and follow pick up procedures
- Respond to first aid and emergency situations as required
- Ensure children are playing safely with age appropriate toys
- Complete incident and accident report forms when necessary.
- To actively work towards maintaining a neat, clean, and well organized area at all times:
- Check for health and safety hazards at all times when on duty;
- Clean the childcare room and toys consistently;
- To be aware of the signs and symptoms which indicate the possibility of abuse and to be aware of the current procedures for reporting concerns.
- Facilitate programs such little tots open play and others as required
- MUST be able to work weekends and evenings
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with children and parents
- Ability to work independently, organize and multitask
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Current First Aid, CPR, Criminal Record Check & Child Welfare Check
- Basic computer skills
