Description

The City of Prince Albert invites applications for the permanent position of Engineering Assistant in the Public Works Department.

The role of the Engineering Assistant is to provide services in design, inspection and layout of construction of municipal engineering projects. Responsibilities will include a variety of advanced survey duties, CADD, record keeping and laboratory testing.

Duties may include:
    assisting in the preparation of detailed designs, inspecting and supervising construction engineering municipal projects including roadways, water and sewer distribution, water treatment, water storage and sewer treatment.
    Prepares cost estimates and tender summaries.
    Leads survey work including use of conventional rod and level as well as electronic measuring devices such as total station survey equipment.
    Performs inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with specifications.
    Performs calculations related to the acquisition of survey data.

Qualifications Include:
    Diploma in Survey or Civil Engineering Technology or completion of the first two years of an Engineering Course from a recognized University.
    Eligibility for certification, as an Applied Science Technologist with the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians.
    Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
    Ability to work with Computer Assisted Drafting Software and engineering computer modelling applications.
