The Kaizen & Patient Safety Specialist reports to the Director of Kaizen Promotion & Patient Safety and serves as the primary coach and mentor for Kaizen related activities within service lines or operational areas. The position facilitates communication, change and consistency of practice between the Kaizen Promotion Office (KPO) and service lines. The role serves to teach and support Kaizen concepts, tools and methodologies in support of the implementation of the Saskatchewan Healthcare Management System (modeled after the Global Production System).
General accountability includes education and training, coaching and mentoring, supporting the development of the Kaizen operational plan and visual management system for service lines. The role will assist in the development of the Kaizen infrastructure and provide timely and proactive support to Kaizen teams and operational areas with the goal of consistent use of Kaizen tools and the achievement of organizational goals through Kaizen. This role also serves as the client representative by serving as a liaison between consumers of health care services and the organization's administration, staff, and physicians. In addition, the role also leads investigation and follow up of client safety issues.
This position will support the KPO and operational areas and as such must demonstrate through personal commitment, support for the strategies, values, culture and beliefs of Sunrise Health Region and the strategic and operating plans of the functional or operational area. The incumbent must support innovation and contribute to a positive working climate which is client centric.
Experience:
Three (3) to Five (5) years of successful employment and leadership in increasingly challenging position. Experience in a health care setting considered an asset.
Required Qualifications:
    Certification as a Kaizen Leader
    Post Secondary Education.
