Description

Family operated dairy farm near Warman, SK in operation for approximately 12 years.  We have 250 Holstein cows with 115-120 head of cattle in milk production.  The operation includes raw dairy which is trucked to others for processing.  We pride ourselves on our excellent production and maintenance of our farm.  The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of experience working on a dairy farm, including operation of related feed for dairy cattle operations.  Must be able to use milking equipment, small tractor loaders, and feed processing equipment for silage.  An understanding of farm mentality and the willingness to work longer hours when required are necesary.

Qualifications:
- min 2 years of dairy farm experience
- physically able to carry out farm labour
- class 5 drivers license or equivalent in order to get to and from work

Responsibilities:
- milking cows using Parlour milking equipment
- feeding calves and young stock (use of tractor, mixer, bottle feeding or by pail)
- operation of general farm equipment for bailing, silage and general harvest of cattle food
- recognition and detection of cattle in heat to prepare for crossing
- ability to learn and maintain Canadian Quality Milk record keeping
- recognition and basic treatment of cattle health problems (pneumonia, mastitis and all cattle foot care)
- assistance with calving
- snow removal and bedding of animals in the winter
- yard and barn maintenance
- all other duties as required by employer
