Carry The Kettle is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will report to and work under the direction of the Principal. This position is responsible for ensuring the school office functions in an efficient and effective manner. This position requires the performance of administrative, secretarial and clerical tasks plus other related office functions to provide support for the Principal, school staff and students. Some of the responsibilities include: answer telephone and electronic enquires, relay messages and direct calls as necessary; Greet visitors and ascertain the nature of business and direct to appropriate person; provide general office assistance with operating equipment; open and distribute incoming mail; prepare and distribute outgoing mail; order office supplies, service office equipment and arrange for servicing of major repairs; Maintain the manual/electronic current/archive filing system; maintain and operate computer-based programs for accounting, student database, personnel files, monthly reports as required; Record all staff absences and forward information to the Head Administrative office as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Possess certification from a recognized institution in Administration and/or Secretarial Program as recognized by the C.T.K. Board of Education.
*Knowledge in accounting.
*Knowledge in the operation of office equipment.
*Demonstrated knowledge of methods and procedures used in maintaining an office.
*Proficiency in the operation of computers an programs.
*Knowledge and experience working with the internet.
*Must possess good understanding of First Nations cultures, traditions and work well with Chief, Council, Band staff and community.
