Regina Transition House is seeking a mature individual to fill the role of Domestic Violence Counsellor (casual). We offer staff training and an opportunity to be part of well-established organization working to eliminate abuse towards women and children in our society.
Domestic Violence Counsellors (DVCs) are responsible for the well-being and safety of the women and children staying at the shelter, for implementing services and programs provided by Transition House
Qualified Applicants will have:
Experience working with women and children who have experienced abuse;
Sound knowledge of the dynamics of family violence, community resources and client focused intervention;
Demonstrated skill in crisis intervention, assessment, and support counselling;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and professional demeanor;
Proven ability to work co-operatively and maintain positive relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisor, volunteers and community members;
Proven ability to effectively manage time and demonstrate flexibility and attend to diverse areas of need;
Proven ability to take initiative and work independently;
Ability to perform physical tasks such as carrying items up stairs.
A post- secondary degree in human service or equivalent skills and experience
A valid Saskatchewan drivers license and current First Aid/CPR certificate.
