Regina Transition House is seeking a mature individual to fill the role of Child Counsellor. We offer staff training, and an opportunity to be part of well-established organization working to eliminate abuse towards women and children in our society.
Position Description:
Child Counsellors are responsible for the well-being and safety of women and children in the shelter. This position is responsible for the facilitation of programming for children and their mothers in a safe-shelter environment. The successful applicant will work in co-ordination with the part-time Childrens Counsellor to secure resources, plan programming and maintain and manage case files.
Maintaining appropriate client confidentiality, providing supportive counselling, providing information and referrals related to the Childrens Program are also included in the position responsibilities. This position will also provide assistance with transportation, household operations and maintenance, to ensure resident families protection and carry out administrative functions. The Childrens Counsellors are responsible for the development and implementation of the volunteer program at the shelter. This includes selection and supervision.
The successful applicant will work closely with all agency staff to promote client well-being, safety, empowerment, and facilitate change and healing in an environment that is physically and emotionally safe. Adherence to the Regina Transition House Values, Code of Ethics, and Guiding Principles is required.
