A full-time permanent Animal Protection Officer is required by the Saskatchewan SPCA. Animal Protection Officers assess and investigate animal neglect and abuse complaints according to Saskatchewan SPCA protocol.
The successful candidate may work from home, depending on office space availability. The Animal Protection Officer will be responsible for case work as assigned in southern Saskatchewan.
The Animal Protection Officer will receive a monthly wage to conduct Saskatchewan SPCA business. All related expenses will be reimbursed. Some overnight travel is required.
Attributes and qualifications that are required of an Animal Protection Officer include:
1. A thorough knowledge of Western Canadian farm practices as well as companion animal husbandry.
2. An understanding and support of the aims and objectives of the Saskatchewan SPCA.
3. Accurate record keeping and reporting.
4. Strong written and oral communication skills.
5. Excellent organizational skills.
6. Basic level of computer skills in Word and Excel (may be tested).
7. Good interpersonal skills.
8. A willingness to participate in educational and training sessions.
9. A vehicle and a valid drivers license.
