Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services Department is now inviting applications for (1) one Temporary Full Time, Aboriginal Head Start Instructor for the community of Little Red River, under the supervision of the Aboriginal Head Start Coordinator. The successful candidate will be required to plan, organize and instruct the Aboriginal Head Start curriculum and also be responsible for providing parent supportive services and liaise on behalf of families.
Duties:
- Plan, organize and instruct the Head Start Program curriculum;
- Ensure that the Head Start Program meets health and safety standards;
- Maintain positive public relations with clients; Work effectively with the health care team;
- Carry out health promotion programs, community education events and planning individual and/or group workshops for families with children age 0-5 years;
- In-home visiting with families who have children age 0-5 years;
- Act as interpreter or escort for Cree speaking clients; Advocate and act as a liaison for families;
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Education & Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent; Preferred Orientation to Head Start Certificate or Early Childhood Education Certificate;
- Valid First Aid/CPR, WHIMIS and Food Safety Handler's Certificate is an asset;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs;
- Personal experience as parent or caregiver of infants &/or young children;
- Ability to speak/understand Cree and/or knowledge of Cree Culture is an asset;
- Criminal Record/Child Abuse Record Checks & Drivers Abstract is required upon hire;
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required;
