Description

Monsanto Canada has several openings for Summer Research Technicians in our Trait Field Solutions Group.  The conditions of these positions may vary slightly.  However, the employment terms will typically start in April/May and end between August and September.  This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in agriculture to experience working with world class researchers, agronomists and plant breeders in a leading agricultural company.

Responsibilities
    Assist with seed and trial preparations activities including seed counting, sorting, placement of sample envelopes into planting order and order verification
    Assist with effective planting and plot maintenance activities
    Assist with the collection of agronomic data from canola plots and nurseries throughout the season
    Assist with uploading and entering data
    Follow Monsantos Compliance and Stewardship Guidelines and related activities
    Follow ESH policies and procedures for the safe operation of the local research facility and program
    Operate and maintain small plot equipment and vehicles, including trucks and trailers

Qualifications
    Agriculture Degree or Diploma student or graduate
    Valid Class 5G Drivers License or the ability to obtain G endorsement
    Good Technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
    Effective verbal and written communication skills
    Highly motivated with the ability to work responsibly in a group and independently
    Strong organization and time management skills
    Strong written and oral communication skills
    Good understanding of agronomic practices
    Basic mechanical skills; ability to operate and care for equipment and vehicles
    Ability to work long hours as needed
