In a Catholic environment that fosters collegiality and supports continuous learning, this employee provides clerical and technical assistance to the teacher-librarian in a school resource centre.
Without restricting the generality of the above-stated basic function, the Library Assistant shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:
Conduct oneself in a Christian manner appropriate to an educational institution.
Be knowledgeable and supportive of Regina Catholic Schools policies and expectations.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of libraries including policies, terminology and processes.
Circulate library materials (the checking in/out of materials electronically; processing interlibrary loan requests).
Assist in the maintenance of the library collection including information files (shelving, shelf reading, repairing resources, and processing new resources for circulation).
Assist with the maintenance of the union catalogue (adding/deleting resources and editing patrons).
Run reports and labels.
Operate the on-line public access catalogue.
Assist in non-student related Accelerated Reader management tasks (printing AR labels, dotting & labeling books, create book lists)
Assist in the preparation of displays to enable an environment conducive to learning including laminating.
Make the teacher-librarian aware of potential problems or unusual events.
Participate in System-sponsored, professional development training opportunities.
Must have a valid driver's license and a vehicle or have access to a vehicle to travel between schools
