Description

The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing counseling and mental health services to the band members of Beardys & Okemasis First Nation. The services provided will include assessments, counseling, referrals for treatment, treatment planning including aftercare and crisis management as needed. They will provide community programs to educate and create awareness of mental health services available. Activity reports will be regularly provided along with program proposals including budgets.
1.    Works independently and provides reports to the Director of Health Services.
2.    Provides individual, couple and family counseling for band members of Beardys & Okemasis First Nation.
3. Provide referral counseling services as directed by:
a. Constable Robin Cameron Education Complex
b. Indian Child Family Services
c. Saskatchewan Social Services (Prince Albert   and Saskatoon)
d. Saskatchewan Justices
e. Correctional Services of Canada
f. Rosthern Medical Clinic
g. Self-referrals  
4. Provide assessments services which may include: addictions assessment, chemical dependency assessment, crisis management eg/ debriefing, defusing as required.
5. Meet regularly with Justice Probation Services to review and develop treatment plans as needed.
6. Provides supervision and consultations as required with the NNADA Program Counselor.
7. Regular meets with staff at Willow Cree Education Complex to review families and children currently under care.
8. Prepare program proposals including budgeting requirements.
9. Prepare annual reports required for mental health problems.
10. Prepare quarterly reports for mental health programs.
11.Attend regular staff meetings.
Education
    Degree in Human Services and may include social work, psychology or related field.
Experience
This position requires relevant experience in area of mental health and addictions
Knowledge of case management
Knowledge of First Nation culture an asset
