Description

DESCRIPTION:
The Nipawin Oasis Family Support Program provides direct support services to families in their home by strengthening communication and problem-solving skills, enhancing family cohesion, while decreasing the number of children coming into the care of the Ministry.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-  Teach appropriate parenting techniques, child development, behaviour management, life skills training and necessary skills for caring for child(ren)
-  Assist families in developing a support system, accessing both formal and informal resources in the community relevant to their needs
-  Provide intensive support to families during traditional as well as non-traditional hours
-  Participate as a team member in case planning conferences held with all stakeholders associated with a family
-  Provide ongoing support to families to follow through with case plans

REQUIREMENTS:
-  Bachelor of Indian Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
-  Must demonstrate an ability to manage files as well as duties related to personnel management
-  Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
-  Extensive knowledge of, and compliance with the guidelines, policies and procedures for children under The Child and Family Services Act
-  Maintain confidentiality and proper storage of personal information
-  Ability to communicate in the Cree language is an asset
-  Computer skills are a requirement of this position
-  Self-motivated, with good organization and time management skills
-  Acceptable criminal record and child vulnerability checks
-  Must have a valid driver's licence, with clean abstract
