SUMMARY: The Water Treatment Plant Operator lI is supervised by the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor, with overall accountability to Kahkewistahaw First Nation Chief & Council. He/she is responsible for the daily activities and duties controlling any process effecting water quality, including day to day maintenance, lab testing, administration effecting water quality and quantity for the safety and health of the community.
QUALIFICATONS:
- Grade 12 or equivalent with at least 1 years work experience in the same field.
- Minimum knowledge in Water treatment plant operations.
- Sask Water quality training is preferred & an asset.
- Hazardous material handling training an asset.
- Understanding & knowledge of chemical mixtures pertaining to water quality.
- Knowledge of testing results for water treatment plant.
- Knowledge of water/sewer lines in the community
- Valid Class 5 driver?s license & reliable vehicle.
- Knowledge in minor plumbing.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all supplies & material required for the station &equipment maintenance is adequate & recorded.
- Start up, shut down & periodic operating checks of plant equipment such as pumping systems, chemical feeders, auxiliary equipment (compressors etcetera), measuring and control systems
- Performing preventative maintenance ie lubrication, operating adjustments, cleaning & painting equipment.
- Load & unload chemicals cylinders, bulk liquids, powdered bagged chemicals with proper equipment such as fork lifts, hoists & by hand.
- Perform corrective maintenance on plant mechanical equipment, ie chemical feed pumps & small units.
- Maintain plant records, operating logs, daily diaries, monthly and annual reports, chemical inventories, equipment inventories/operating records & data logging duties.
- Maintain the water plant facility & ensure it is clean & orderly at all times.
- Report any deficiencies &/or corrective measures to the O & M Supervisor.
