POSITION MANDATE
Reporting to the Medical Health Officer, the Nurse Epidemiologist is responsible for a broad range of surveillance, health status, and epidemiological research projects within the NITHA Partnership regions. This position focuses on the systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of health data in the process of describing and monitoring a health event. The Nurse Epidemiologist also works in close co-operation with The Tribal Councils, Northern First Nations and provincial health authorities. Within NITHA this position works in collaboration with other Public Health Unit Staff.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPEREINCE
The ideal candidate will be an innovative professional with a thorough knowledge of population health and epidemiological research. The essential skills, knowledge and abilities required to be successful in this position include the following:
A relevant Master?s Degree and a minimum 3 to 5 years of experience.
Must have current registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA).
Possesses a thorough knowledge of health promotion modalities, communicable and non-communicable diseases, disease and injury prevention, in particular immunization, and their relationship to health status.
Prior experience in developing disease monitoring tools and data collection systems to define epidemiological trends in communicable and non-communicable diseases including injuries, accidents, poisonings, family violence and related events.
Skilled in oral and written communication including use of public relations and knowledge of avenues available for the dissemination of information.
Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office.
Experience working in a First Nations organization and/or ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.
Possesses a valid driver's license and can travel as required.
