Working out of Saskatoon, the Public Programs & Services Coordiantor is responsible for promoting and carrying out the Canadian Diabetes Associations mission throughout northern Saskatchewan. This includes volunteer development, relationship and partnership development, sharing and coordinating services and support for people affected by diabetes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work with local volunteers and community partners to plan, deliver, and evaluate public education initiatives throughout the province, specifically to high risk groups such as First Nations and Metis communities.
To coordinate diabetes-information and support people with diabetes and the general public via partnerships with Health Care Professionals, educational events, webinars, camps, expos, etc.
Work closely with high risk First Nation/Metis populations to provide information, education and support for people affected by diabetes.
To implement marketing and communication strategies for local programs and services.
To foster ongoing relationships with local health and health promotion professionals, including diabetes educators, to enhance the delivery of programs and services.
To build partnerships with other organizations and groups, that can facilitate the delivery of the CDA mission.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Post-secondary degree in education or health is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in all phases of program development and delivery
Experience in volunteer development and management
Experience working with First Nations/Metis people and cultures
Excellent interpersonal skills
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Group facilitation and presentation skills
Relationship building
Knowledge of community resources an asset
