OBJECTIVE:
The Operational Accountant is a position that facilitates the accounting structure for the construction product line. The position will report to the Operations Analyst and Operations Manager and also act as a resource for the Operations Superintendent and other operational staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for administering and control of project accounting on a continual basis
- Ensure communication between Management, Estimating, and Operations
- Ensure proper job setup so that E-One transactions flow automatically
- Produce accurate and timely reports
- Reconcile Project Accounting to General Ledger
- Construction contract billing between $25 - $35 million
- General Ledger reconciliation and variance analysis
- Prepare and enter monthly revenue recognition, cost accrual and other journals as required
- Ensure project accounting procedures are followed
- Setup and maintain all internal material quotes for products sold to job cost
- Approve job cost payroll and processing overtime allocations
- Prepare monthly subcontractor progress worksheets and journal voucher entry
Qualification Profile:
Education:
CGA, CMA, CA, CPA candidate or three years experience in a related field.
Experience and Skill Set:
- Minimum of three years job costing experience
- Construction industry experience a strong asset
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Strong computer skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge and experience in People Soft, Build2win/Track, and Kronos would be a definite asset
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and in a team environment
- Ability to learn new systems quickly
- Proven ability to work in a team environment
- Awareness of environment / safety / quality / transport rules and regulations
- Ability to provide IT Support to operational staff
