Description

The City of North Battleford is seeking a qualified individual for the permanent full-time position of Fire Chief to direct the overall operation of the Fire & Emergency Services Department.  It is a combination Fire Department consisting of one Fire Chief, two Deputy Chiefs (1 vacancy) and 12 full-time fire fighters augmented by volunteer fire fighters.  This position also directs the Municipal Enforcement & newly created Community Safety Officer Program & staff.

The Fire Chief is the senior administration officer of the fire department and reports to the City Manager and City Council.  Duties and responsibilities will include leading, managing and directing the prevention, suppression, rescue, training and administrative activities of the department as a whole.

The incumbent must have extensive and proven ability experience in emergency services, with a minimum of 5 -10 years in a senior administrative command position.  He/she must possess superior leadership abilities, including excellent verbal and written communication skills with staff and the general public;  good computer skills; must be able to effectively deal with conflict issues and must be able to perform general management functions.  
The successful candidate must have Grade XII or equivalent with post-secondary education in Fire Service Administration, Public &/or Municipal Business Administration. The incumbent must possess a Sask Class 5 License with a clean abstract, Standard First Aid and CPR C, IFSAC and/or Pro Board certified training as NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level II, NFPA 1031 Fire Service Inspector Level II and NFPA Fire Investigator 1033, NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level IV, NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer; Emergency Management CEMC designation and/or equivalent and a min ICS 300/400.
