Description

The Saskatoon Tribal Council is a dynamic, forward-looking, outcome based organization.  We are currently hiring Child Protection Workers in Human Services, Child & Family Services & Urban Program Delivery.

This position provides support and linkages to services to ensure First Nations children grow up in their own culture with the caring family supports they need. Some of the duties assigned to this position are:
1. Be the receptive and encouraging first point of contact for children and families who access our services.
2. Responding to intervention concerns in a culturally sensitive manner.
3. Acting as a bridge between First Nations children, youth and families, First Nation communities and agencies.
4. Ensuring important proceedings, such as band consultations, are nurturing and culturally appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Significant experience working with First Nations people and knowledge and understanding of the culture and traditions of the Cree, Saulteaux and Sioux First Nations.
-Bachelors degree in social work (BISW OR BSW), or an equivalent certificate (CISW OR CSW), and significant experience in the social work or family service field.
-Strong understanding of the Child & Family Services Act (CFSA) and FSIN Indian Child Welfare Family Support Act. Provide an original copy of your CPIC (RCMP only) along with your resume.
-At Interview must provide copy of vulnerabilities check (ACI) from Ministry of Social Services (Saskatchewan) and equivalent from any other jurisdiction in which you have lived during the past 10 years.
-Copy of a vulnerabilities check from the CFS Agency serving your First Nation (if applicable).
-Copy of valid Saskatchewan drivers license and driver abstract.
-Good knowledge of political, social and economical objectives of the Saskatoon Tribal Council.
-Registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Work.
