The staff pharmacist is responsible for the day to day operations of the dispensary and the day to day operations of the pharmacy in the absence of the pharmacy manager.
The pharmacist is expected to ensure the operations of the pharmacy follow the provincial and federal pharmacy regulatory structures and corporate policies. A balance is expected between appropriate health care provision and appropriate business principles.
The staff pharmacist promotes a site that is patient focused, clinically orientated, collaborative, and fiscally responsible. Promotion of a workplace that is a positive reflection of the pharmacy as a whole is expected.

- Advise customers on selection and use of non-prescription medication
- Advise on the administration, uses and effects of the medication, drug incompatibilities and contra-indications
- Maintain medication profiles of customers
- Evaluate labelling, packaging and advertising of drug products
- Ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products
- Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals
- Control the quality of drug products during production
- Compound prescribed pharmaceutical products
- Check prescriptions for proper dosage
