We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated individual to complete the office duties for our housing cooperative for a one year maternity leave term. This role requires an individual who is able to work independently as well as maintain a close relationship with the members, volunteer committees & Board of Directors.
Under the direction of the Board of Directors, responsibilities of this position include:
-Financial Management; Booking duties (QuickBooks), working within budgets, and administering a subsidized housing program. Working with the Board of Directors & various committees to ensure financial information is available.
-Marketing Units; Maintaining waiting lists, screening applicants, ensuring new members are educated about their role in the coop, and minimizing vacancy loss.
-Meeting Legal Requirements; Ensuring the coop complies with provincial and municipal laws, and its own bylaws and policies. Reporting to government agencies such as ISC and the SHC, and working with our auditor.
-Supporting Good Governance; Offering Board of Directors and committees the information needed to make sound decisions.
-Maintaining the Office; Ensuring that effective office systems and administrative procedures are in place and followed.
We require someone with excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, skilled in business writing, exceptional abilities working with Microsoft software, and experience working with financial information. Preference will be given to experience with QuickBooks, however training will be provided.
Preference will be given to someone who has experience working with a cooperative, a non-profit, a Board of Directors, members committees and/or volunteers.
