NATURE & SCOPE:
-To develop the Award Programme throughout Saskatchewan.
- The Award Officer will research and source youth groups, introduce the programme, and provide leader training and participant support.
REQUIRED ACTIVITIES/FUNCTION:
Generally:
- The primary objective of the Award Officer is to expand the Award program into new groups, enrol participants in the Award Programme, follow-up with groups on a regular basis and support participants and leaders involved in the Award programme.
Specifically:
- Establish community contacts and connections
- Determine resources available in the area or community
- Presentations to youth groups and schools
- Establish new Award groups and enrol participants
- Follow up and establish regular meetings with each group as needed
- Assist with workshops and Leader Training
- Assist with expedition training and planning
- Willingness to travel throughout the province to expand the programme in all areas
- Ongoing evaluation of the programme in the community
- Attend meetings of Council, when appropriate
- Attend the Annual General Meeting
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
-University degree an asset or equivalent experience
-Experience working with youth ages 14-25
-Must have a drivers licence and a car
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-Ability to do presentations and speak in public
-Good phone skills
-Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Database usage.
-Specific computer skills using Mail Merge to produce letters, labels, and other mailings.
-Ability to take initiative and be self-directed
The Duke of Edinburghs Award - Saskatchewan is a team work environment. This is a full-time position for 35 hours per week. Generally the office hours are 8am-4pm. There is 30 hours in the office per week and 5 hours out of the office during evenings and weekends for presentations, meetings, and training. Flexible hours are an option.
