Description

Reports to the Chief & Council of Standing Buffalo Dakota First Nation. The Director of Health is responsible for all activities in plans, organizes, directs and controls the delivery of services offered by health professionals, Brighter Futures Program, NAADAP and CHR programs related to the community health services, including a 40-bed personal care home.  The Director of Health's main objective is to achieve optimal health in the community.  The Director of Health works closely with staff and various community groups and individuals and government programs to promote healthy image in the community.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Degree or diploma in Public Relations, Administration, Health or Social Services preferred
- Minimum 5 years experience in community work required
- Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of clinical and administrative managers
- Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills
- Co-ordinate preparation, monitor and manage budgets within health program
- Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented
- Able to manage and coordinate consultant and volunteer activities
- Excellent writing skills, including proper spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Knowledge of primary public health care organizations and agencies
- Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills
- Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Adobe products
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and customers
- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Sobriety for past 3 to 4 years would be an asset
