Description

Prairie Valley School Division delivers educational services to over 8000 students in 38 schools throughout southeast Saskatchewan. We have an opportunity to join our team of professionals at the Education Centre, located in the R.M. of Sherwood just outside Regina City limits.

Applications are now being accepted for the Manager of Fleet Services. The responsibilities of this position are managing the acquisition, inspection, maintenance, and servicing of the Prairie Valley vehicle fleet including school buses, staff vehicles, trailers and other equipment to ensure safe and reliable vehicle performance.  Working as part of the Transportation management team, this position leads the development of strategies that promote safe and efficient student bus services and align with the organizations objective to deliver the best possible educational and support services to our residents.

Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, deliver and monitor inspection and maintenance services for 200+ buses and approximately 30 other vehicles in the school division fleet, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, policy and procedures

Schedule and supervise the work of Journeyman Mechanics and develop professional development plans to ensure a qualified, up to date and trained complement of mechanics

Monitor vehicle usage and performance and manage the allocation of buses among 180+ routes to maximize safety and efficiency; make decisions regarding vehicle retirements and acquisitions working within available resources

Prepare and maintain accurate, up to date and accessible vehicle records (e.g., repairs, kilometers, inspections)

Manage budget for servicing of buses

Preferred Qualifications:
Journeyman mechanic designation

Minimum 10 years practical, hands-on experience in heavy vehicle mechanics, preferably in a student transportation setting

Diploma or certificate in business/office administration or equivalent would be an asset
