Description

EPCOR Water Services is currently looking to fill up to two (2) full-time permanent Senior Operator positions located at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Regina, SK.

The existing plant involves the operation of a mechanical plant and lagoon system while construction of a new facility which will utilize a Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) process  with automated technology is currently underway.

This position will offer an exceptional opportunity for learning and career development as operations are transitioned to the new facility, scheduled to be completed in 2016. As a Senior Operator, you will use your technical expertise and leadership ability to contribute to the effective operations of the existing plant and assist with the transition to the new plant. Training in the new BNR process will be provided.

Successful candidates must possess the following qualifications:

-Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
-Level II Wastewater Treatment Certification preferred (candidates possessing a minimum Level 1 certification and a combination of related experience and/or education may be considered).
-A minimum of 3 years operations experience in a wastewater treatment plant; experience supervising and providing direction to groups of employees in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.
-Previous experience with Delta V and SCADA control systems will be considered an asset.
-Valid Class 5 Driver's License (with 6 demerits or less). A Driver Abstract will be required.
-Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position. Clearance on pre-placement medical testing and drug & alcohol testing will be required.

Pay Class: 2G
Rate of pay: $24.62 $27.41 per hour
Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly

 - Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water
 - Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the flow of sewage and to treat and dispose of sewage and wastes
 - Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
 - Monitor and read recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits
 - Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems
 - Complete and maintain plant logs and reports
 - Collect waste and sewage samples, test and analyze results
 - Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content
 - Analyze test results and instrument readings
