Job Coach, Northern Work Prep Centre

The Northern Work Prep Centre (NWPC) will assist individuals from the northern region of Saskatchewan who are seeking employment, training and/or careers. The NWPC provides services to both those who are ready to work and to those needing some basic assistance. This is a full-time term position until June 30, 2015. The probability of annual contract extension for the successful candidate is very high. Permanent status is available after 3 years of employment.
Duties:
Take a lead role in client assessment, evaluation and management.
Assess clients to determine their level of functioning and their career goals.
Provide life skill counseling and personal development programming as required.
Provide detailed career action planning and mentoring to clients.
Assist clients to build confidence and work on employment barriers.
Develop links to employment opportunities in the La Ronge region. A large focus will be on entry-level jobs in hospitality, the service industry, etc.
Monitor clients who become employed and provide support for any job-related challenges that may arise.
Develop reports as required.
Qualifications:
Life skill coaching certification or related post-secondary certification and experience.
A broad range of work experience in the northern Saskatchewan economy.
A good understanding of what it takes to get and keep a job as well as a good understanding of the La Ronge and region labour market.
Training or experience in client assessment and alternative programming is preferred.
Task oriented and well organized with the ability to work independently within a small office environment that requires a solid team approach.
Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle.
Knowledge of a First Nation language or culture. Ability to speak Cree would be an asset.
