POSITION SUMMARY
Based on the daily needs of the Valley Hill Youth Treatment Centre (VHYTC), establishes therapeutic relationships with clients. The Addiction Counsellor utilizes a sound knowledge of addiction counselling, assessment process and screening techniques, demonstrates a high degree of flexibility, a willingness to take on a number of roles and responsibilities from day-to-day, at the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and in support of the clinical team within a framework of best practices and evidence-based treatment principles. The incumbent will focus on implementing therapeutic strategies to ensure appropriate treatment planning for clients.
SCOPE
The Addiction Counsellor is accountable to provide:
A client-centred youth residential addiction treatment plan for youth (12-17) and their families.
Substance misuse Intake Assessments and Screening.
Individual and group counselling sessions for clients and their family members.
