Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Environment Division has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Manager for its Environmental Analytical Laboratories.
Accountabilities
-Develop short and long range plans to ensure ongoing financial viability of the lab
-Develop and monitor the budget and monthly financial performance of the lab to control expenditures and ensure financial targets are met, while investing in the future
-Ensure staffing resources are available to maintain efficient lab operations and ensure the required level of customer service is met; includes staff recruitment, training and development and performance management, while developing a highly engaged workforce
-Develop and implement marketing and business plans as required for business retention and growth in traditional and new service areas in order to grow SRCs brand nationally and internationally
-Prepare proposals, plan and coordinate projects and operations within the business unit and consult with clients regarding project requirements
Qualifications
-Masters or bachelors degree in chemistry or science
-10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
-5 or more years of management or supervisory experience
-Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Control protocols
-Experience leading a multi-level team in a laboratory setting is an asset
Skills
-Financial management, marketing and human resource management skills required for successful operations management
-Knowledge of Saskatchewan's environment industry
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Ability to lead and interact well with staff at all levels throughout SRC
-Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems is an asset
