Prevention Services Worker reports to the Prevention Services Supervisor. The primary objective is to work closely with Families and Family Services to ensure the safety and well-being of children by decreasing the level of risk.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Providing evidence based parenting programming to families which will enable them to live in a healthy, functioning family unit.
- Obtaining accreditation in a Best Practice parent training program.
- Actively participate with Family Services in family group conferencing, case conferences, and case planning.
- Providing educational awareness in schools to promote well-being.
- Hosting workshops and seminars on appropriate parenting and life skills.
- Developing promotional campaigns to bring awareness regarding parenting skills to a local level.
- Working closely with all community resource personnel to establish services for families.
- Advocating and assisting clients to remove barriers.
- Referring to appropriate agencies for specific needs such as counselling services, addictions treatment, child assessment, etc.
- Coordinating family camps: large and mini groups, and family outings.
- Maintaining accurate client files.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- BSW/BISW or a related degree
- Criminal Record, Child Abuse, and Driver's Abstract Clearance
