Description

Regina Public Schools requires a positive and innovative Project Manager to work in the Educational Facilities Department. Under the general direction of the General Manager of Facilities, the Project Manager will be the first source contact for the trades work unit from internal clients. The Project Manager will collaborate with the customer group to develop, present and negotiate construction estimates; coordinate and schedule staff on projects for areas involving minor maintenance and tenant improvements; meet with client groups to ensure requirements as per blueprints or verbal requests are being met; ensure administrative requirements
are in place prior to scheduling work; track and inspect ongoing projects to ensure deadlines are being met; track financial aspects of projects to ensure fiscal responsibility is achieved; ensure all staff and sub trades are in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.

Travel within the city is required.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the theories, principles and practices related to project management and the construction trades; and knowledge of the occupational safety standards, National Building Codes and Saskatchewan and Municipal Codes and Regulations.

To qualify for this position, you must have a Journeyman designation or equivalent and extensive experience providing expertise and advice to journeypersons in various trades. The position requires extensive knowledge
of commercial property management, equivalent to that obtained by a Real Property Administer designation from BOMI and/or a Project Management Professional designation or Prince2 Practitioner. Extensive knowledge in reading and interpreting blueprints, ordering material, hiring contractors, scheduling staff and providing construction estimates is required.
