The University of Saskatchewan is the headquarters for the Canadian SuperDARN, Super Dual Aurora Radar Network, program. SuperDARN is an international collaboration involving 9 principal countries and more than 30 radar systems installed around the world. The Canadian SuperDARN program is a key partner in the international collaboration. Canada's strong technical team is currently responsible for the operation of five SuperDARN radar systems in Canada: Saskatoon, SK; Prince George, BC; Rankin Inlet, NU; Clyde River, NU; and Inuvik, NT.
There is a requirement for a radar computer engineer within the Canadian SuperDARN program. The main duties will include both hardware and software aspects for the development and maintenance of the Radar Operating System (ROS), the SuperDARN data analysis and diagnostic software, and SuperDARN Canada's web presence. The individual will be required to develop a thorough understanding of the various systems currently being used in the remotely operated radar systems. The individual will be required to identify and prioritise potential development areas and must be able to communicate technical details to the stakeholders. The individual must also be able to offer creative solutions, including complete and workable deliverables, while working both independently and within a team environment. Multitasking will be required to provide support in a diverse project environment, while maintaining an organized program.
