Position and Scope
The Lead Chemical Technician is responsible for the daily operations of the Labpack Team, as well as other processes when required, and if skills warrant. The Lead Chemical Technician carries out the sorting of chemicals, determination of chemical compatibilities, ensures the conformance of packaged materials to the Transport of Dangerous Goods Regulations, and thorough tracking of chemicals. The position requires a pro-active personality that is willing to lead by example and thrives in a fast-pace work environment. A strong commitment to safety is required for this position as you will be expected to set a safe, thoughtful, and productive standard for others in the area. An in-depth understanding of both organic and inorganic chemistry is essential to the daily tasks of this position. The successful applicant must possess strong computer skills for the research of chemical properties as well as maintaining inventories and processing records.

Key Accountabilities of the position include:

1. Lead labpack staff in the processing of labpacks

2. Determination of chemical compatibilities through use of reference resources

3. Demonstrate leadership and full compliance relative to Envirotecs safety program

4. Use and maintenance of lab equipment (pH meters, thermocouples, etc.)

5. Maintain stock of lab supplies

6. Track processing times and provide reports on productivity

7. Complete processing paperwork, maintaining processing records

8. Prepare Standard Operating Guidelines for new processes or when systems are changed

9. Lead weekly team meetings with management to discuss challenges and successes

10. Participate in training exercises and seminars as necessary
