SIMFC is looking for an experienced, take charge professional with ability to manage administration and logistics in support of our Grad Night 2015. To assist in coordination of an event which we expect will be up to 750 people. The successful Event Coordinator must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. The event coordinator should be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers.
Event Planning and Production
Assist with negotiations for space contracts and book event space, arrange food and beverage, ordering, travel arrangements, ensure appropriate dcor to meet the theme of young Aboriginal graduates.
Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters. Assist with managing on-site event production
Serve as a liaison between the Schools/Graduates and the event, encouraging and assisting Graduates with the applications as well as scholarship Development and working with community scholarship providers.
Fundraising with the support of community organizations, corporate entities, private donors, and foundations .
Event Administration:
Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to staff directors for each event project. Keep track of basic event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting. Prepare and modify event contracts as requested.
Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers.
Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma preferred; significant work experience can substitute for the degree.
Experience with event planning and fundraising is an asset.
