Position Summary: The Slurry Trench Extended Stick Excavator Specialist will operate specialty equipment to excavate and construct a large slurry wall. This is a full time position that will last at least 9 months maybe longer, depending on the project duration.
Essential Functions:
Set up, inspect and test equipment safely prior to operation daily.
Perform routine maintenance on the equipment (i.e.) fueling, greasing, oiling, etc.)
Operate extended stick (15 meters) excavator blindly with precision to trench and construct a slurry wall.
Troubleshoot issues and problems related to heavy equipment that impact productivity and safety.
Qualifications:
5 to 7 years experience in excavation and slurry wall construction required, the work is performed entirely under slurry so the operator must be able to dig blind with high accuracy.
A vast knowledge of all aspects of slurry wall construction including slurry trenching excavation procedures, sloping, and banking with an extended stick (15 meters) required.
Must have knowledge of backfill mixing, pumping and controlling bentonite slurry; methods to properly mix and place soil bentonite backfill materials.
Strong communication skills to perform essential functions of the position and ensure safety
Must be able to operate 2-way radios and other communication equipment.
Availability to travel over extended periods of time on short notice required.
