In accordance with the Saskatchewan Health Care Management System (LEAN) and congruent with the mission, vision and values of the Five Hills Health Region and Mental Health & Addictions Services, the consultant psychiatrist provides specialized psychiatric consultant and treatment and directs the treatment of acute and long-term patients with mental illness, addictions issues and concurrent disorders (inpatients/outpatients). Services will also be provided in a primary health care setting. The psychiatrist will provide consultative services to other inpatient units within the hospital. Incumbents are clinically accountable to the Department Head/Chief Psychiatrist regarding methods and procedures in psychiatric treatment and administratively accountable to the Vice President, Community Health Services. Performance is evaluated for conformity with Five Hills Health Region polices and for the use of acceptable psychiatric diagnostic and treatment methods. The LOCUS (Level of Care Utilization System) tool is used for client management.
