Reporting to the Health & Safety Coordinator, this position is responsible for the following duties:
Responsibilities include:
-Assist in developing, implementing, delivering, and promoting Industrial Hygiene and related programs that meet regulatory and company standards
-Develop and implement workplace monitoring programs for chemical, physical and biological hazards such as welding fumes, heavy metals, noise, mould, heat stress and fume hood ventilation
-Manage the respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs
-Administrate the electronic Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) database
-Support employee groups on-site as required through regular safety huddles and information sessions
-Develop and deliver training to site personnel as required in areas of occupational health and safety
-Support OHSAS 18001 through hazard identification and risk assessment
-Ensure that specialized instrumentation and monitoring equipment such as gas detectors, sound level meter, and respirator fit test equipment is properly maintained
-Conduct workplace evaluations, make recommendations and write reports as required
Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
-Degree/Diploma in Occupational Hygiene, or a Degree/Diploma in Science/Engineering with Occupational Health specialization, or acceptable equivalent training/experience
-Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment would be an asset
-User proficiency in Microsoft programs
-Preference will be given to qualified Residents of Saskatchewans North (RSN)
Work Location & Schedule:
-McClean Lake Mine site, 7 days in and 7 days out rotating schedule
-Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours is frequently required.
