Description

This position is essential to SaskPowers basic operations and meets the Saskatchewans government hiring direction.

Locations:
Queen Elizabeth Power Station, Saskatoon, SK
Poplar River Power Station, Coronach, SK
Boundary Dam Power Station & Shand Power Station, Estevan, SK

Power Engineer is a nationally recognized occupational title that includes Steam Engineers and Steam Plant Operators but does not include Electrical Engineering or equivalent occupations in this context. An alternate title for this position would be Stationary Engineer.

JOB SUMMARY:

The employee in this classification is, on assigned shift, responsible to direct and participate in the efficient operation of plant turbines, generators, boilers, emission control systems and associated auxiliaries to meet generating requirements.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

        Second Class Power Engineers Certificate, or equivalent and;

        Two (2) years of experience as a Facilities Operator, or equivalent

        Possess the ability to make and implement sound decisions under emergent conditions

        Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position

        Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others

        Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

        Valid Class 5 drivers licence


These positions fall within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.
