The Northlands College Mine School is located in La Ronge, Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Program Coordinator of the Mine School, the Mine School Lead Instructor will focus on the planning and delivery of all mining programs. Working closely with a team of five other instructors, the lead instructor will monitor course quality assurance and control. The expectation is that this individual will possess a thorough understanding of the mining industry and can provide support and guidance to other team members in all areas of mining programs.
The Mine School Lead Instructor will provide lecture, lab, and field instruction to students; keep inventory of equipment; organize and supervise student field trips; participate in course material development; ensure mining programs are meeting quality standards; and participate in program audits. The instructor will be responsible for providing instruction in the following programs as required:
- Basic Mine Site & Career Exploration
- Chemical Technology
- Diamond Driller's Helper
- Mineral Exploration Technician
- Mining Engineering Technician
- Radiation Environmental Monitoring Technician
- Underground Mining Core Training
The minimal qualifications for this position are a Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering; Professional Engineer Designation; minimum of five years of experience in the mining industry including underground experience; and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
