Description

Responsibilities:

Inspect transport units and loads for safe operation during, prior to and after all transport assignments
Ensure proper load securement at all times
Complete minor preventative maintenance such as greasing, air filter checks, brake adjustments and settings
Completion and submission of FLRAs, JSAs, site orientations, etc. as required by Tervita or customers
Loading waste onto transport units from customer sites
Onsite servicing such as tank cleaning, catch basins, separators, and interceptors.
Emergency Response Services including spill clean-ups.
Ensure all transport of hazardous and non-hazardous materials complies with TDG Regulations
Prepare manifests and/or bills of lading, as required for each transaction
Inspect all waste and material to ensure that it complies with manifest, recycle docket and bill of lading descriptions
                    

Qualifications:

Valid and current Class 1 License with required endorsements to operate designated transport units
Minimum of 2 years driving experience in the transportation industry or demonstrated competency
Ability to work through difficult weather conditions, challenging work site environments, and long demanding work days
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials
Ability to complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner
Solid knowledge base with respect to Hours of Service, load securement and driving regulations
Solid understanding of TDG Regulations and safety requirements with respect to proper labeling, handling and transporting hazardous materials
Strong mechanical knowledge with respect to the maintenance, servicing and repair of transport vehicles
Ability to liaison with customers and diplomatically resolve any issues and/or concerns that may occur
